Dog walking since 2010
Wagtales are fully insured by Petplan Sanctuary which covers Public Liability, loss of keys and care custody and control (liability to animals). We are all DBS checked and uniformed as well as being First Aid and Emergency First Aid trained in canine care. We have distinctive branded, specialised fitted vans for your pets comfort and safety with cages that are of various sizes and specially powder coated non-slip and anti-bacterial protective layer on the inside of the van.
We aim to keep providing the best knowledge regarding dogs as we can, and to do this we believe you cannot sit still in this occupation as we learn more about dogs on a daily basis. We ensure that our knowledge is kept up-to-date by attending regular seminars and courses presented by well respected canine trainers, behaviourists and practitioners. Including Dog Law seminars with Trevor Cooper who is one of the UK's top specialist solicitor’s in Dog Law.
We don’t just take any dog on to join our pack and group walks. We come to meet both dog and pet parent/s and get to know you a little before deciding if your pooch will fit in with us. Our pooch pack are all as important as each other to us and we form a bond with them all individually. We cannot take on dogs within this environment with aggression issues as our pack safety and well-being is paramount.
Meet some of our Team
Wagtales was started in 2009 by Gemma after she was made redundant and knew exactly what her love and passion of dogs and animals was going to be focused on. Being brought up with a variety of animals from all breeds of dogs, cats, horses, rodents and reptiles, she was never happier than when she was spending time with her pets. Her BA(Hons) Media Production Degree and working background held her in good stead setting up Wagtales Pet Ltd from the marketing and advertising aspect to customer service. Always wanting to work with animals from a very young age and originally wanting to train animals for film and TV is what lead Gemma into a Media course at College and University in the first place. She attended dog obedience classes with her very timid and fearful rescue dog at twelve years old which solidified her passion for dogs, their wellbeing and dog behaviour.
Ella joined us in the summer of 2015 after working for years in the Carer profession. A naturally kind, caring, passionate and vigilant person she was the perfect fit to become our Canine Manager and ‘took the lead’ in early 2017. Her knowledge of dogs and their behavior is second to none. Ella has grown up around different breeds all her life from Great Danes to Salukis, and is a lovely natural dog handler. She is iMDT trained, actively involved in obedience with her own girls, dog agility and hoopers, which includes demonstrations, not to mention constant ongoing training makes Ella an impressive dog handler.
Natalie’s background is in photography and film and was already a Wagtales Boarder that joined our Walking Team in 2018. She has had a variety of pets from a very young age and now owns her beloved dog Bowie, an Irish Setter, who adore each other and love spending time training and being outdoors. Her adoration, patience and empathetic personality naturally gravitates her to the more mischievous enthusiastic temperaments.
